Day 22 Climbed a section of The Great Wall this morning, quite a challenge in the heat but made it to the top. Amazing views, it is 6,500km long and took 250 years to build with thousands dying in the making. Many battles took place along The Wall so it’s really a monument to tragedy as well as being the only man-made construction visible from space. #greatwall #beijing#walkthewall #viewfromthetop. Went to Ming Tombs which are the largest in Beijing, stunning architecture and artefacts relating to the Ming Dynasty. Also visited a jade factory and saw production in progress, the huge battleship took 3 years to make! Many of the pieces are OTT and have a huge price tag, jade is highly valued here in all its forms.
