China

Day 14 After a late start (well it is Sunday), I finished off a couple of pieces in the studio and decided to take the bus to a museum complex that looks a bit like a fortress on the outside. It is huge, comprising of hotels, part of the University campus, numerous offices, factories and museums. It was very quiet and unbearably hot again. The largest museum houses the 10 potteries exhibition covering the period of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China with huge propaganda murals and posters of leaders of this period. I captured an artist working on one of the murals. The museum also has a collection of work from each of the Dynasties which was more interesting and I fell for the beautiful Ming bowl in blue and white. Some of the exhibits were a bit OTT as you can see!
